Hospitality needs change.

The path to becoming a chef is not linear.

The journey to becoming a chef is not a straight line. The path is often portrayed as washing dishes somewhere, before learning prep and basic skills, while working your way up. Eventually that coveted sous chef or head chef role is within your grasp. The problem here is that this whole time you were learning to cook.

Many chefs don’t get the training in how to communicate effectively, how to be organized, or how to lead a time. This is where I come in.

Here at Mortar I specialize in leadership development for chefs, and quality of life coaching. Through one on one sessions we will identify what struggles are coming up for you, and how you can get past them to help make you the chef you want to be.

Ronan is an honest, no gimmicks, genuinely nice guy. I first started working with him as my coach in Autumn 2020, right in the middle of COVID. The pandemic brought the life abroad I had spent years planning and dreaming about to an end and I was, well, a bit lost. Working with Ronan I was able to design new ways to navigate the new reality whilst still holding on to my longer-term vision. Ronan likes to begin each coaching session by reminding the client that he is working with you as part of a team. That’s certainly how I felt. I was supported, encouraged and, yes, I had some blind spots called out to me from time to time - but always done from a position of kindness and humility. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Ronan again in the future!

I highly recommend Ronan as a guide or life coach to work with you in conversations that create meaningful and lasting shifts and movement in your mind and life. Ronan is authentic, genuine and free of judgment which fosters a safe environment. He guides conversations where we could explore setbacks and ways of thinking that cause setbacks and how to move forward into an inspiring and encouraging mindset.
